# recover a worker

Start in the affected shop worktree:

```sh
antil status --json
antil logs api --tail 20
```

Read `blockers`, the service's last check, and `next_actions`. If the API cannot connect, check Docker and run `bun run prepare:cache` in that worktree. If Vite is missing, run `bun install` there.

Once you fix a known startup failure:

```sh
antil session end
antil session start --json
```

If a new agent is taking over an existing worker, record its name:

```sh
antil status --takeover checkout-agent --json
```

A stale worker still owns its apps and data. Inspect it before ending it.

If a named test command timed out or its result is unknown, follow the returned command to inspect that exact execution. Do not launch the same work under a new retry key just because your terminal lost the response. The [JSON reference](/docs/reference/json/) describes the result; the [CLI reference](/docs/reference/cli/) lists inspection, cancellation, and explicit retry commands.
